Below is a history of the world as it is in our RP. Do not expect everything to have happened in this exact manner.

Mutants. Those who carry the unique and powerful ‘X-gene’. Some are born with it, some have it granted to them, and some get their powers from other sources all together. Where did it come from? In the below timeline, we shall break down the history of Mutants.

50,000 B.C. – Before the rise of man, a meteor fell to the earth, ending the age of the dinosaurs. In this meteor lay several crystals that shone with exceptionally beautiful light. The crystals were actually a container of a unique chemical that could not be found anywhere within our solar system. They had been crafted eons ago, and then lost in some long-forgotten war. Their landing decimated the planet and wiped out the dinosaurs. Some of them being scattered all around the globe, while the largest was stuck within the chunk of the meteor itself in the desert. Then it was buried by a powerful wind and buried beneath the sands.

3,000 B.C. – The Egyptian Dynasty was on the rise and they wished for a new way to commemorate their Pharaoh, the one chosen by Ra to divinely lead them to greatness. Whilst building the great pyramid, they stumbled upon a glowing crystal, it became known as the “King’s Gem” and was bestowed upon their king as a gift. Upon the king’s death he was buried with the gem affixed into his sarcophagus.

500 B.C – A man named Atreus was fishing in the Mediterranean when a sea swell destroyed his boat and he was dragged underwater by the currents. He was pulled into a cave within the island of Crete where he discovered a small gem shining brightly. The moment he tried to reach for it, it fell, cracking open and spilling a shining liquid on the ground. He tried to touch it and it immediately absorbed itself into his body. He passed out from the pain he felt, but soon woke up to find that he had incredible power. Within the next hundred years he would be revered as the Greek god known as Zeus.

1100’s – During the Crusades into Egypt to take over land and search for holy relics, the invading forces broke into the old Pharaoh’s tomb and found the beautiful stone. During their attempts to remove it, the stone shattered and its seemingly corrosive liquid ate through the coffin and seeped into the mummified corpse of the king. The Crusaders blamed this on witchcraft and evil magicks, and thus set the King’s body aflame and then left the tomb never to return.

1500’s – A scientist by the name of Xavier Thorne led an excavation into the pyramid that housed the old king, only to discover his body was perfectly preserved! It looked as though he had died just the day before in the prime of his youth. Dr. Thorne brought him back to England to conduct research on this strange phenomenon.

1510 – Dr. Thorne began conducting research on the man’s blood, discovering that he was blessed with the ability for his cells to continuously multiply and thus keep his body from ageing. It also allowed his body to heal from the wounds of incisions and things that the Dr. was making as he worked.

1540 – Dr. Thorne started his experiments on living subjects to no success. He was just missing the right spark, until he began to test in young children. He left his notes to his young disciple, Dr. Franco. The younger Dr. Franco had no qualms about being morally upright, nor did he care about following any form of Hippocratic oath. He began to infuse unborn babies with the serum.

1575 – It took him nearly 30 years to have any success at his endeavor, but he finally had a child to survive. The mother died during childbirth, so he raised the boy as his own. The boy’s name was Thomas Franco. He would later become known as the first Mutant, with what was named the ‘X-gene’, named after Xavier Thorne who started this endeavor. Thomas was hailed as the first of his kind, though Dr. Franco still had the body of that ancient Egyptian sealed deep underneath London in a secret lab that to this day is not known of.

1590 – Thomas became an adult and then had a child, the first child born naturally from a Mutant. This child manifested a different power from Thomas, who was simply able to regenerate and his ageing, while not totally stopped, it had managed to slow exponentially. The child had incredible strength and speed, which only increased as he aged.

1600’s – Thomas’ son, named James, after Thomas’ adoptive father, began wondering if he and his father were the only ones like them in the world and he dreamed of one day getting to explore and find out more about not only what he was but whether more were like him.
1610 – James set out on his grand adventure, travelling all over Europe and Africa, into Asia and even out to India. He heard stories of men who had incredible strength like his own being born naturally, though this was exceedingly rare from what he could discern. He even read about people with great powers being revered as gods among men.

1650 – By the time James had settled down, he had several children and even more grandchildren. He had managed to keep his powers hidden, as well as made his kids to do the same. While he was sure no one would believe him if he told them of his powers, he knew they would despise them if they ever did find out.

1700’s – It was in this year that the mutant condition found its way to the New World. By mean’s of James’ great-grandchildren. They integrated into society, while keeping their abilities hidden as best they could. They continued to marry and have offspring, further spreading the X-gene through their children, though not every child born of even two Mutant parents was guaranteed to have the X-gene.

1800’s – In the year 1800 through the year 1820, Mutants in asia began to rise to power with one taking on the mantle of ‘Silver Wolf’ which would be passed down to his successor and so on, all to present day. This man would generally be granted the presidency in China, due to his incredible power.

1900’s – Mutants in America and other countries began to become involved with things as well. Getting more into the culture as opposed to living as hermits as they had since their creation. One mutant, known for having an incredibly sharp mind, which was his power, actually started to develop weapons for the government.

1914 – This was the year where mutants were brought into official government knowledge. While kept mostly a secret from civilians, and passed off as hoaxes or rumors, mutants were very much involved in the war and played an increasingly vital roll in how the war ended.

1944 – It was in this year that the first official Government Team of Mutants was formed to take part in the latter years of World War II. Dubbed by many as a suicide squad as they took on missions behind enemy lines where death was almost a certainty, their official government callsign was ‘Doom division’. It consisted of ten mutants who each had a unique power and were known to be very powerful.

1945 – On August 6, 1945 the existence of superhuman beings was not only confirmed, it was broadcast to the world. As the Doom Division was sent on a mission into Hiroshima, Japan in an effort to show not only the power of the Allies, but to dissuade them from continuing their war efforts any further, the Doom Division came across the Japanese response team known only as Team Seven. There were seven of them and the result of their battle was an explosion that destroyed the entire city, reducing most of its inhabitants to atoms. It killed all of the mutants involved but in an incredible security leak, actual footage of their battle was released to the public and thus, Superheroes were born.

1970 – During this year, an American scientist praised for his once in a lifetime genius, Anthony Brown, created nanites that were capable of increasing human capabilities to superhuman levels if injected into the bloodstream. They were capable of healing people and granting them an increased lifespan, though due to the nature of this invention it was immediately bought and classified by the military under the title, “Project Oversight”. The doctor had a mysterious accident immediately following this.

1990 – Project Oversight was disbanded officially by the president, promising that there would be no further discrimination against mutant kind. The first Mutant Coalition founded, known as ‘The Defenders’. Following this announcement, many normal humans began to riot and even hunt down and kill mutants who were known. Mutants fought back, but were eventually pushed back into hiding when a new response team was brought into development.

2000’s – During the election of 2000, president Elliason named all mutants as illegal aliens within the USA and they would be removed should they be found, if they resisted they would be incarcerated or killed. ‘The Rebel Knights’ rose up to protest this and began to cause much more havoc in the world.

2005 – Project Hercules was released, specially trained soldiers with nanotech armor made from the nanites created by Dr. Brown in 1970. These soldiers were able to take down and incapacitate superhumans. They even had unique collars that could suppress the X-gene within mutants.

2010 – By this year, most mutants are in hiding or totally underground. Almost every city is crawling with Enforcers from Project Hercules, though as long as supers kept their powers under wraps, they were safe.

2015 – Project Insight is tasked with inventing a way to test humans for the presence of the X-gene. They are successful. Now, Enforcers are able to scan humans to determine if they possess the DNA required to manifest powers, and are thus able to arrest people before they become a threat. Most nations are in support of this practice after the events at Hiroshima.

2019 – PRESENT DAY
